The “OW” Vowel Team<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Phonics instruction is all about patterns \u2014 and the \u201cOW\u201d vowel team<\/strong> is a great one for young readers to practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While \u201cOW\u201d can sometimes make the sound you hear in cow<\/em> or town<\/em>, in this lesson we\u2019re focusing on the Long O sound<\/strong>, like in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below are 8 more longer “ow” words with the long ‘o’ sound<\/strong>. These words are better suited for Grade 2 students. These words all have 2 syllables and some feature double consonants (like arrow and pillow), or have a digraph like “shadow”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
